Discover how to use sketchbooks to develop and document your creativity.

Sketchbooks are a vital tool in your design development process,  they are a great place to capture your ideas, experiment creatively and explore design themes.

During this one hour interactive workshop I will explain why, how and when sketchbooks can be used in the Design Process.

We will look at the benefits of keeping sketchbooks, all the different ways you can document your ideas, and how to select the right sketchbook for the way you work.

I will demonstrate how I use a variety of sketchbooks, during the development stage of my own design projects

 

How the online class will be structured:  I begin the workshop by identifying the benefits of keeping sketchbooks, and the different ways they can be used.
I will demonstrate how I use sketchbooks, taking a tour of my many books and how I use different types at different stages of the design process – encouraging questions throughout the demonstration.
I will conclude the session by outlining  just what  to look out for when making your own sketchbook selections – size, paper type, format etc.

What you’ll be provided with: Hand out notes will be emailed to you after our session, which details the content of our workshop for you to refer to when using and selecting your own sketchbooks.

What you will need: Just a notebook to jot down your key observations.

What you’ll learn: The benefits of keeping sketchbooks, how to identify what you want to use them for, and how to select the right sketchbook to suit your process.

Who will be teaching? Karen Smith, an experienced professional designer and artist, who shares her enjoyment of the entire creative process from exploring concept designs right through to completed projects.

 

Please note the maximum number of participants for this course will be 6, this is a comfortable number for a group session, allowing you to have a chance to participate in group discussisons, and for me to give each of you a a good level of attention. The minimum number for each session is 4, if we dont meet that number 5 days before the scheduled date for the session, the class will be cancelled and a full refund issued.
